ITV2 DROPS ‘SUPERNATURAL’ FOR ‘VAMPIRE DIARIES’ !

ITV recently (well in July so not recently) aqquired the rights to vampire diaries (which will air in 2010 on ITV2), which in my opinion was a good move seeing as ITV2 has a strong supernatural fan base which generally pulls in 800,000 veiwers (600,000 live and 200,00 on ITV2+1) . Vampire Diaries like with The CW (on thursdays) could be a lead-in for Supernatural on Sundays. However ITV then announced it was dropping Supernatural (later picked up by Living). The only thing I don’t get is that (like with The CW) why does ITV2 insist on going for the teenage girl audience that isn’t very big or commercially viable (at least for The CW), it already has Gossip Girl (and had that reality Paris Hilton crap) so why go further? But it seems the head of ITV2 would rather get rid of a wider audience to have a teenage female audience (though E4 seems to get ahead with teens with its shows like Skins, The Inbetweeners and soon The Misfits) so why fight an upward hill fight for veiwers that aren’t worth much anyway. Plus Vampire Diaires won’t do well pureply based on the fact that all reviews are generally negative and in 2010 it will be up against a good vampire show (Being Human).
